How We Work

Cultural strategist Barry Lord makes the case in his book Art & Energy that the predominant energy source of an era defines the cultural values of that society and in turn how individuals think of themselves. Where oil was an age of consumption, and coal an age of property, Lord sees renewables aligned with values such as stewardship. Influenced by his thinking, there is a case for supporting our cultural values of stewardship to strengthen our energetic outlook - in turn shaping how we define ourselves in the world. As polarisation and environmental degradation deepen, art and culture matter more than ever. Art questions, reframes, exposes. Culture connects, transforms, inspires.

We research in-depth, both have art historical backgrounds, Julia also in economics. We don't follow trends but we are keen to understand and engage with new technologies, regulations and ways of producing art. Nico is exploring possibilities of Web3 for artists while also staying rooted in a critical and curatorial framework. Julia is deep into systems theory and ecological writing. 

We founded arbulu studio to support leaders and cultural stakeholders to navigate this changing world and thrive in it - consciously, strategically - while making a positive impact.
